I Have Something To Say
03/03/2010
Too many years ago - too long to remember, I knew I would write a one-woman show. And it would be called, “I Have Something To Say.” Now seems to be the time. Right now, I will say this: Writing about one’s self feels indulgent. Sean says if I’m going to write a one woman show, I should get over that. Good point. Thanks to a combination of Heidi’s phone call to be part of ” What’s Alive Inside” and taking Josie’s Stand-up class, I am in action. That and sometimes surprised by what I do have to say. In some ways it doesn’t matter. Just that we all have a story.
After Chrissy
01/21/2010
Back to work on the play I began writing a year ago. Funny how the characters patiently wait for my return. After Chrissy is the working title and I’m curious how long it will stick. The piece is a one man (Louis) show of sorts with a Greek chorus/troupe of players who fill the both the intimate roles in Lou’s life along with the role of society in general. That’s the idea anyway! Again, I’m writing about death - which really is all about life, isn’t it? Pronouncing Glenn was a comedic way to do it - this is another. And Chrissy - that’s my amazing niece who we lost at the young age of 18. I say lost - but not really. She’s with us everyday.
Stay tuned . . .

Final Thought to share on TFM
08/01/2009
To live in this world,
You must be able to do three things:
To love what is mortal;
To hold it against your bones knowing
Your own life depends on it;
And,
When the time comes,
To let it go, to let it go.

Curtain comes down . . .
07/11/2009
Closing night is tonight - and although no actual curtain comes down - well, unless we count the glitter one (everyone needs a glitter curtain in their lives) - and I am once again profoundly moved by everyone’s contribution. In particular, this production was singular in the way the cast functioned backstage. It took incredible teamwork, patience, and good humor behind the scenes the create the foundation for the show onstage. In the end, it brought an intensity and depth to what was happening under the lights. Life often takes a village - and we had a quite a wonderful community. Overall - TFM stands alone in what it accomplishes with the audience - sold out houses by the way. Every night it was such a thrill to see the audience transform into a cheering section for the men of Monty. They were pulling for their success - wanting it for them - and maybe for themselves as well. The idea of stepping beyond, doing what doesn’t seem possible, to face our fears - it is all as scary as it is seductive. Kudos again to everyone.
Opening Night tomorrow . . .
06/23/2009
The Full Monty opens tomorrow night - the orchestra sounds wonderful and the cast is brimming over with a powerful, funny, engaging story to tell. It is truly a gift to watch them create magic.

Meetings abound - deep discussions and planning on set design/choreography/music/ and audition planning. Great working with a new choreographer - Kate Whalen - she brings high energy, interesting perspective and a can-do spirit.
